Dr CAROLINA SAMPER PEÑA
It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely death of one of our beloved members, Dr Carolina Samper Peña. She was a great doctor and a wonderful human being. She was also a very successful TBLAMS president. She will be missed dearly. Here is a picture of her and her husband, Dr Max Peña, at the Valentine dinner this past February. R.I.P Carolina.
Her memorial service will be held on Sunday March 27 at the Gonzalez Funeral Home at Dale Mabry from 3-6 pm. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers to give donations to the TBLAMS USF Latino Scholarship or to the Colombian Volunteer Ladies of Tampa Bay. See below if you wish to donate.
TBLAMS GENERAL ASSEMBLY MARCH 7, 2022 at THE COLUMBIA RESTAURANT
The general assembly was well attended. New members for the board of directors were elected. TBLAMS wants to welcome Dr. Nicole Hernandez, Dr. Stanley Denison and Dr. Lourdes Rodriguez to the 2022 board of directors. We want to thank the service of retired board members for their service and support. Those retiring were Dr. Wilfredo Lorenzo, Dr. Jorge McCormack and Dr. Julio Gonzalez. Thank you for your service!
The members voted to create a new position of Executive Director which will oversee the daily operational and accounting duties of our society under the guidance of the president and the board. TBLAMS is proud to announce that Ms. Adrianne Pagan, CPA has accepted this challenge.
Adrienne Pagán was born and raised in Tampa Bay, where she attended Tampa Catholic High School and went on to the University of South Florida to earn her bachelors and master’s degree in accountancy. She then spent 4 years at Price Waterhouse Coopers, the largest accounting and professional service firm in the world serving several Tampa based healthcare and financial service clients. In 2008 she joined Emotive Medical Solutions, a Tampa based medical billing company. Today she is the owner and President, and her company manages various aspects of the practice and revenue cycle for dozens of Tampa Bay physicians. She is happily married with three amazing children. Adrienne has a long history with the Society; with her mother, Mayra Perez, having previously served as Secretary over 15 years. Adrienne is excited to continue in the footsteps of her mother, is proud to be part of this organization, and looks forward to serving TBLAMS for years to come..
Welcome on board Adrianne!

Meet the tblams Usf Health morsani COLLEGE of medicine minority scholarship recipient
Hello, I am George Padilla. I graduated from USF and am now in my second year at MCOM. The Tampa Bay Latin American Medical Society has made a great impact on my ability to achieve the goals I have set for medical school and beyond. With my parents being the first in our families to graduate elementary school, I sometimes find it challenging to keep up with peers who have access to resources such as generational wealth and family doctors to help them with their studies. Scholarships like the TBLAMS USF Health Minority Scholarship help to level the playing field by alleviating the strain of purchasing extra practice exams, study resources, and equipment. This allows me to dedicate my time to my passions of learning medicine, conducting clinical research, and serving our communities with limited access to healthcare.
